The hurricane and what it means

Hey everyone. I just wanted to let you all know I am fine. I evacuated to my mom's in Daytona Beach, Fl. I am not really sure what to say here about anything. I am going under the assumption that everything that I own is gone... well, aside from the things that I brought and my dogs. They are fine too, by the way. From what I am hearing, the shop is under about nine feet of water and is on a street that is being hit by looters very hard. Knowing all of that, I don't think that much there survived. The building was also very old and I am quite sure that the roof in the back didn't hold up that well at all. I do have some insurance, but I don't know what that is going to cover exactally.

I have talked to Roger, Miles, Lance and Nathanial. They are all fine, but running out of money fast and trying to figure out where to go from here. I am trying to do the same. I have NOT heard from Tatu Dan, so if anyone out there knows if he is ok, please let me know.

In all honesty, even if the shop was totally fine (which it isn't) and I could go back in a week and work (which I can't because it looks like there is not going to be power or water for a very long time) there is no way that any of us could make a living. I don't think tattoos are going to be a very high priority when most people have lost almost everything. I am not trying to be selfish by talking about this, and I am not complaining. I am actually in a very good place right now all things considered... but I do want you all to know that I don't think that I will be going back to New Orleans any time soon. I am planning to trying to find a shop to work at in the area today and we will see what happens from there.

I feel really bad for all of the people that I had started things on that are not done yet. I really do. But I cannot sit in New Orleans, which is now pretty much a flooded lake and a war zone on top of that, while it is rebuilt. Crime was pretty horrible there before, I can't even comprehend what it will be like while people are living in tents eating MRE's. I am, quite frankly, not strong enough to go through that.

And if you have been watching the news, reports that I have gotten from Steve have indicated that it is really far worse there than you are seeing. Looting is out of control, people are getting shot....

Speaking of Steve, he is still there, being a firefighter and all. I have not heard from him for almost two days now. Please keep him in your thoughts. Also, I have not heard from his father or grandparants (who I love dearly) since before all of this. They evacuated to Mississippi... which isn't good.

Big thanks to Kingpin Tattoo Supply, who is sending me about $200 worth of tattoo supplies for about half price. You don't know how much I appreciate that. Thanks to Jason who called me from New York and told me that he and Eric could scrape together some stuff to send me. HUGE thanks to my Mom who has been the absolute best.

If you want more information on the after effects of this hurricane in New Orleans, this site, is updating pretty frequently.

If you have sent me email in the last couple of days, I will try to get to that later on today. If you know of anyone hiring in the Daytona area, let me know. I hope everyone out there is doing well.... I will update again when I find out more about what is going on.

I don't know if you are interested in checking out Fort Lauderdale, but my husband's one friend owns a tattoo shop there - .

I don't know if he has a need for help, or if you want to consider it, but if you do contact him, tell him Chris Brown (Lump) from PA sent you.

I am glad you are safe, and very sorry to hear about the shop being flooded. If you need anything in the way of clothing, soap, etc., please let me know, ok?

Thanks Dee... that is so sweet :)

I am trying to find a shop around here because I can stay with my mom for free. I may just have to bite the bullet and work at a crappy beach shop for a while to get some money together.... if I end up leaving here though I will check out that shop.

You guys are so great. Seriously.
