Not Opening The Shop Again... at least not where it was

A lot of people have been asking me about the shop... when it will open and all of that. Somewhere on my site there must be a mention of the fact that I opened April 1st (which I did, years ago) and are reading that thinking that I am opening again on the first. I am not. I have no earthly idea when I will get the shop open again, if ever.

You see, I have not gotten a single cent from my insurance company yet, and, until I do, I do not have the funds to open another shop or to replace some vital equipment that was in the shop that I would need to tattoo with. I have been tossing the idea of working for someone around for a little while, but I do have full time job (not tatooing) right now, and I am not willing to give that up with the finacial situation being what it is in New Orleans.

I can't tell you when that will change. I never would have guessed before all of this that it would take my insurance company over eight months (at this point) to come through on a claim which is pretty much straight forward. I mean, isn't that why we get insurance in the first place. I don't mean to sound bitter, but I get phone calls and emails every day asking me when I will be working again, and I have no idea what to tell people.

As soon as I know anything else, I will be sure to let you all know. But until then, it is still all up in the air.

Starforce Copy Protection - Worse than a Sony Rootkit?

under Windows XP, if packets are lost during the reading or writing of a disk, XP interprets this as an error and steps the IDE speed down. Eventually it will revert to 16bit compatibility mode rendering a CD/DVD writer virtually unusable.

Updates and all

As much as I hate to say this, it looks like I will be going back to New Orleans. What that means tattoo wise, I can't really tell you right now as I don't have a space/place to work lined up yet. If I figure anything out when I get back, I will post it here, but for now, if you would like to get a tattoo, please email or call me and I will see where I am at then.

I will be back in Florida for bike week, which I believe is the first week of March. The shop I was working at needs another artist, and I would really like to see my mom then.

More as I know more..... take care everyone

Maybe I will type a little bit after all

Ok. So the car. I got a 1997 mazda miata. I think having a convertable here is a requirement. In any case, I love it. It is beautiful and fun and gets good gas milage. And yes, I fit in it.... since that seems to be the first thing that anyone asks me. After I get it detailed to the point I am happy with I will put some pictures up.

I will be in New Orleans the second week of November. I have some work to do for the sewing site, but I have one day that I could tattoo if anyone is interested. Let me know. I also know that I will be in New Orleans around Christmas if November is too soon. I will also be there in February for Steve's brother's wedding... so there you go. Much beyond that I can't say.

ummmm... that's about it. I hope everyone has a good Halloween. I, for one, am doing nothing.

More dog pictures...

You know I can't resist putting another picture of Luca Brasi up.... he is my baby after all. Posted by Picasa

Another photo

This cross was already there, sort of, but I like how the blue came out on his skin. I didn't have to change too much except for the points at the ends and a little of the shape. I asked him if he wanted to even out the arms of the cross, and he didn't... so we left those alone. Posted by Picasa

More Photos

Here is a tattoo I did the other day. I finally got a hold of a digital camera that I really like. It is so nice I am almost glad that I lost my other one. Very easy to use.

Of course, I did about ten hours of research this time before I bought it, but I won't get into that right now. Posted by Picasa

Too lazy to type... here are some photos

I just love this picture of weenie. I mean, could he be more of a ham? I would have to say that he really loves his new yard... lots of room to roam. Posted by Picasa

A car to cruise in

I found a car. A really, really nice car. The nicest car that I have ever had. I love it so. I am holding off on saying what it is just yet, I am playing a guessing game with some friends and I don't want to give it away. I will post pictures next week or so.

I got a camera to replace the one that washed away in the storm, so I will be posting pictures of tattoos again soon. There have been a few tattoos that I have done that I would like to photograph. There was a pretty large tiger that I need to add background to, a big dragon that isn't done quite yet, a really cool stingray that was all black but made up of dolphins and turtles and symbols and such. It was a very cool design. There is also an eagle that came out pretty well.

Tattooing has been a blast! I love my job again! One good thing about the storm is that I don't have to hassle with all of that shop stuff anymore. No more employees, rent, bills, supplies... it is sort of liberating. I just go to work and draw and tattoo. This will be very good for me in the long run.

I think (unless I get wacked by Hurricane Wilma) that I will be going to the Jacksonville tattoo convention this weekend. I don't even really know who is going to be there or who is putting it on, but I am hoping there will be some venders there so that I can get some things that I am missing for supplies. I only have six colors of inks right now. I can mix every color I need from those, but it takes a good bit of time.... I also have very few tubes. I miss my stuff. =(

Anyway, I am off to bed. I have a newspaper interview to do tomorrow early. The newspaper here is doing a story about me moving out here for the Sunday edition because of biketober fest or something like that, so I need to get to work early. I hope you are all doing well =)

Updates and such

Hey guys. I have not actually written anything in a little while and I thought that I would give you all an actual update. I was also thinking that I am going to go back to updating at least once a week. Now that I am using a blog format, it is a little easier for me to do it. So no excuses. Every Wednesday (unless I am out of town, but maybe even then) I will write something.

Steve has been here twice and has gone back. I am working five days a week at Bad Azz Leather and tattoos. I am not thrilled about the name, but really it is a clean shop. Keith Weaver, the other artist that works there, is a very funny and talented guy. He did this combination tribal/oriental wind bar thing the other day that was pretty amazing. I really do like working there. I get to do a lot of large, fun tattoos.... like the one that I am working on that I posted below.

Toyota (well, the extended warranty people) have decided to fix Steve's truck, so that is good news. My house, which fared pretty well in the hurricane, has power and telephone again. It didn't get finished while he was here, so chances are good that I will be driving it to him near the end of October or the first part of November and then flying back here. That means that I will be in New Orleans for about five days to a week. That also means that if you want to get a tattoo during that time, I will probably try to set up appointments for a few days during that time. If you would like to get something, let me know. I wish I knew the exact dates, but it really depends on when the truck gets done. In any case, email or call me if you are interested, and I will start a list. I don't want to tattoo the whole time I am there, but I would be willing to do about two days worth of work.

I miss a lot of you guys in New Orleans, I really do.

Ok. A couple of rants.

First, a personal one. There were three people that I have not talked to in a long time that contacted me after the hurricane. One was someone I was close to in grade school and high school, one was one that I was close to in college, and one was one I was close to in Minneapolis. I love each of these people very much. When they contacted me, I thought that one good thing about the hurricane and everything that happened was that I was going to maybe be in touch with these people again. I was really happy about that. Of course, since then, I have not heard from any of these people. I don't mean to sound crappy, but I am feeling pretty darn alone out here. I don't know very many people aside from those that I work with and my mom. I really miss having all three of these people in my life. I had sort of gotten over the fact that I wouldn't be talking to any of them anymore a while ago, and hearing from them again and then not hearing from them has sort of opened new wounds.

Enough about that.

Second.... the city of New Orleans. Ok, I know they have a lot to deal with, but they still don't know what they are doing as far as city employees go. I am sure that it is the same with all of the essentail personnel, but I only really know personally about the fire department. Steve worked for almost three weeks straight, 24 hours a day. The city paid him for overtime a couple of days ago by direct deposit, and then took a good bit of that money back out of his account without telling him. Is that even legal? Then, they were on a four day on/eight day off schedual which was really good for a lot of the firefighters because a lot of them have family out of town and that time off was good for them to go to see them. Also, people that had to work on their houses and that time actually let them get something done. Then, they switched them back to a 24 hour on/ 48 hour off schedual. Silly. They did it without much notification. In fact, Steve thought that he was supposed to be off today because he worked for the last four days, but he found out yesterday that he had to work today and that if he needed the day off, he would have to take annual leave. Some of the firefighters got sent out of town on vacation, some didn't. Some guys got paid that were not even there. They don't have half of the equipment that they need. I don't know. I just see this being a huge mess down the line and I hate to think of Steve, or any of the other people that I care about, getting screwed over after they did their best to keep the city together.

Anyway... again, enough of that. Things are pretty good really. Aside from being here without anyone else, my life and my job is pretty perfect.

I am off to go car shopping. I will let you know what I find.

Recent Tattoo--- Almost finished Posted by Picasa
